The temperatures are still way below zero here in the Netherlands and the iceskating fever is on!
As a child I loved to go iceskating on the canal near our house. We had a typical ‘koek en zopie’ tent (a small tent where you can buy a hot choco, very welcome when your mittens were soaking wet) and some daredevils were trying to skate under the bridges.. Lovely memories!
But these days, whenever I ask some friends to go iceskating, they don’t want to come with me (I guess fear comes with getting older;-) ). So I decided not to go on the ice but get the food that, to me, typically resembles the cold days outside.
A sugared pastry filled with apple and brown sugar.. You have to warm this up in the oven and then top it off with a hot vanilla sauce… Delicious!
Do you have typical things that you eat when it’s cold outside?
